Paul Harris Live

Went to the Paul Harris show the other night.  I’m a big fan of Paul since he was in the Pierce Arrow show.  I had never seen him perform in his own show so I didn’t know what to expect.  Paul is a hilarious comedian so my expectations were high.

Paul came out on stage and sat down on a couch and began reading the newspaper.  He looked over the paper and welcomed everyone to the show.  The beginning of the show was filled with Paul bringing up current events and talking to the audience about them.  He was quick to get the audience behind his way of thinking.

The next portion of the show was filled with music by  Paul and his group of musicians.  They did a little picking, and a lot of grinning.  Paul and the gang were having fun with song like “Cash Crop” and “Mama won’t you please come home”.  As you can guess, the evenings’ comedy was targeted more for adults.

The second half of the show opened with the introduction of the Cleverly Trio.  This five person band is composed of the same musicians as before, but now they are acting as a family.  They started playing Blue Grass music, and moved on to rock songs played with a country beat.  It was unusual to say the least, hearing “Owner of a Lonely Heart” and “Very Superstitious”, played country style.  Between songs there was some light comedy.

Paul comes back out as himself  and goes into his Steve Irwin impression and started to imitate Jeff Corwin.  It never gets old listening to him talk about the snake and how it’s rearing it’s head and “If it were to bite me right now, I would be dead” in an Australian accent.

They finished the show with some Gospel and more 70’s songs played in a country style.  I felt the show was more music than comedy and the comedy was more adult subject matter.  I would not recommend this show for anyone younger than 18.
