Doug Gabriel 2009

Have I got a wonderful morning show for you!  Went to the Doug Gabriel show and can tell you, this is one show you have to see.  Doug performs on stage with his wife Cheryl and son Josh on the drums - who happens to hold a world record for his talent with the sticks.

The show starts as Doug comes out singing "Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head", "Release Me", "It's Now Or Never", and the Roy Orbison hit "Crying".  The band is introduced, J.T. Lynn on piano, Mitch Kursey on guitar, Bob Roth on Bass, Josh Gabriel on drums, and Michael Hermsmeyer on fiddle.  Josh shows off his stuff doing "Wipe Out" on the drums.  The singing continues as Doug performs "Don't Be Cruel", Cheryl sings the Johnny Ray hit, "Cry", and Doug follows up with "Johnny B. Good".

Cheryl brings out the famous Mufftar - a guitar made out of a 1969 Thunderbird Muffler by Doug's dad.  On the day we saw the show, the strap broke and the guitar almost fell.  Shows you how much this guitar weighs!  Doug sat down to play a wonderful ballad.  Mitch played the Brooks & Dunn hit "Maria" and Michael showed his talent playing the "Orange Blossom Special" on the fiddle.  Doug finished the first half with "Unchained Melody" and the guitar solo "Malaguena" - made famous by Roy Clark.

The second half opens with some fun oldies, "At The Hop", "Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On", "Your Mama Don't Dance And Your Daddy Don't Rock & Roll", "Louisiana Saturday Night", and the Garth Brooks Hit "The Dance".  We hear several more songs and a short video by Doug and Cheryl before a moving end of the show.  Doug and Cheryl sing the final song "In God We Still Trust".
