Acrobats of China 2010
XieXie (shi shi) and Ni Hao (knee how) or Hello and Thank You to the Acrobats of China for their wonderful performance tonight at the New Shanghai Theater. I thought the performances of the cast were top notch. But don't take my word for it. I heard lots of OOOOOOOs and AHHHHHHs, mixed with a few "How do they do that?" and several "Oh My God"s.
The cast and acts change 4 times a year so you might not see the exact same show as I did, but I will tell you about what i had the privilege to see. The show featured Incredible Gymnastics, Hoop Divers - Diving thru hoops 8 feet off the ground, Plate Twirlers - spinning 5 plates in each hand while doing somersaults and other feats of contortion. The show also featured a young lady who could balance a glass of water on top of a fan and 4 raw eggs on top of each other on the crown of her nose quite a sight to see. Next we saw the chinese version of Romeo & Juliet - It was a man and woman swinging from silk streamers as they danced in a romantic saga.
We saw an illusion where one girl goes into a clock and 4 walk out, a Shoulin Kung Fu demonstration showing amazing feats of strength, agility, and one performer placing two bamboo poles tipped with metal spear heads at his neck and pushing forward - bending the poles. This is not for the faint of heart. You'll really enjoy the Chinese Yo-yo's, the Jump Rope act with 13 people jumping rope at once, and the Hula Hoop Dancer that started hoops at her feet till she had 7 hoops going at once - at her Knees, Hips, Shoulders, Neck, Arm and Hand.
I Highly Recommend this show for kids of all ages. The young ones ask, "How can they do that?". The not so young ones ask, "Could I ever do that?" As for me, I ask that you go see these Amazing Acrobats of China and tell them Ni Hao after the show. Pictures are only allowed in the lobby after the show.
